Ishi Adiva to run at York tomorrow

Ishi Adiva runs in the 1.45 @ York tomorrow. I'm quite suprised to see that the Sporting Life have chalked her up at 50/1 and would say that this isn't a true reflection of her chance. Her run in the Weatherby's Super Sprint, where she was second to the Windsor Castle winner Elhamri, who was also 4th today in the Group 2 Gimcrack on ground that may prove to be far to soft for him, must give her a shot at tomorrow's race. We have to improve a bit to keep our placing with We'll Confer but she is an honest filly and should run well. The ground is likely to be very soft as it's pouring at York! I don't think she will hate it but I'm sure it won't be ideal for many of tomorrows runners.

Good luck Ishi!

Luis Melendez declared at Nottingham on Tuesday

Pictured above is Luis Melendez in the winners enclosure at Newbury on Sunday, August 6th. Also in the photo is Annika Kallse (lady amateur rider from Sweden), Ashleigh (Luis' lad) and me! This was Luis' third win on the trot.

I've declared Luis for Nottingham's 5.45 Apprentice Handicap over 1m1f, on Tuesday. I'm hoping the ground stays on the firm side of good otherwise we may have to consider revising our plans.

Picture of Ishi Adiva. Ask Don't Tell to run at Windsor 14-08-06

A photo of Ishi Adiva after her fantastic second at 100/1 in the Weatherby's Super Sprint at Newbury a couple of weeks ago. She is pictured with owners Stephen and Michelle Bayless, who also bred her. We're all hoping that she will go one place better in the St Leger Yearling Sales Race at York on Thursday, August 24th.

I've declared Ask Don't Tell to run in the 5.45pm at Windsor tomorrow. Link to the decs below.

http://www.racingpost.co.uk/horses/card.sd?race_id=414101&r_date=2006-8-14&data=spotlights

She's up against 10 other runners and has been drawn 3. This season the draw at Windsor has been a bit hit and miss so we're not exactly sure whether it will prove to be helpful or not.

I've also been to the sales over the past week and we bought a new horse at Doncaster on Thursday, 10th August, ex Sir Micheal Stoute trained Master of the Race. He is a four year-old by Selkirk. He made 200,000gns as a yearling, we paid 24,000gns on behalf of the ONEWAY National Hunt Partnership.

Selkirk(USA) (8.5f) - Dust Dancer (Suave Dancer (USA)(10.8f))
(200,000gns) 4th foal, half-brother to useful 7-8f 2yo winner Spotlight (US Grade 2 1m1f winner at 3), 7f 2yo winner Dusty Answer, and 7f 3yo winner Tyranny; dam 7f-1m4f winner, best wins over 1m2f.

This is taken from the sales report in the Racing Post on Friday 11th August. "Four-year-old Master Of The Race, who finished second on his first five starts, is also leaving Stoute after being bought for 24,000gns by first-season Lambourn trainer Tom Dascombe. The Selkirk colt will go jumping for a distinguished partnership including a Racing Post sales reporter (Ed Prosser). "He has been bought as a replacement for Political Intrigue, who won two of his three starts over hurdles and sadly died in April with a twisted gut," said Dascombe. "We'll geld this fellow and give him some time off and then hopefully he'll be hurdling in the autumn.""

Thanks Ed! Great sales reporter, owner, former flat mate (of my brother Ben and his wife Ruth) and Tom Jones impersonator!

Doncaster St Leger Yearling Stakes:

This race is for 2-year-olds purchased “under the hammer” at the 2005 St. Leger Yearling Sales. Guaranteed minimum prize money £300,000.

Of the four horses originally entered to run in this race only Ishi Adiva will be put forward to run and we hope for a similar run to the Wetherby's Super Sprint Newbury. This race will be staged at York on Thursday August 24th.

Winners

Since the last newsletter Luis Melendez has won three times on the trot! The winning tracks were Yarmouth, Wolverhampton and Newbury.

Luis ran in a ‘claimer’ at Wolverhampton and we decided to claim him back because he is such an asset to the yard. Not to mention the fact that the place would not be the same without him!

He is up for sale (to stay in training at ONEWAY) and anybody interested in purchasing him should contact me on my mobile or by email.

We had another great day at Newbury Racecourse on the 22nd July. Ishi Adiva ran in the Weatherbys Super Sprint coming 2nd which earned her owners £29,000 in prize money! This was an amazing achievement as it was only her 3rd trip out.

ONEWAY National Hunt Partnership

I will be visiting Doncaster sales this Thursday to look at several horses that may be a suitable replacement for Political Intrigue. Anybody who is interested in becoming a partner should call me on my mobile. Alternatively I can always buy you a whole horse! If you would like to visit the sales with me please contact Marnie in the office or on my mobile. Visiting the sales is an experience in itself and would be well worth the trip.

Luis wins again!

Luis Melendez did us all proud winning the 2.00pm cantorspreadfair.com Ladies Invitation Fegentri Handicap (Lady Amateur Riders), by an official distance of 1 length. Thats 3 wins on the bounce! The race result can be found on the link below courtesy of the Racing Post.

http://www.racingpost.co.uk/horses/past_results.sd?r_date=2006-8-6&crs=NBY

He's done brilliantly for ONEWAY, leading out the 2-year-olds as well winning his races. We are looking forward to him running in a few more of these events before the end of the season.

More posts to come this week - hopefully we will have a couple of runners and more winners.

Well done to all the team.
