Winner No 14 for the Year!
Gross Prophet won the 2yo maiden at Wolverhampton on Monday. This was my first 2yo winner of the year (rather late, August!) and, coincidently, my first last year was also at Wolverhampton (in April!).
This is what the Racing Post wrote:
Tom Dascombe has developed quite a liking for Wolverhampton since he started training and he made it six wins from just 17 runners at the track when sending out Gross Prophet to take the 6f juvenile maiden under Richard Kingscote.
Gross Prophet had slightly disappointed Dascombe when third on fast ground at Windsor last time, but found the surface here more to his liking and scored with a bit in hand from Tugalu.
"It was a bit quick for him at Windsor, which is why I've brought him back here, to what is proving to be a lucky course for me" he said.
Dascombe will now be considering the nursery option for Gross Prophet, though he feels the gelding's current mark of 74 could be a bit harsh.
"He's going to want a bit of cut", he said, "and he'll get a mile in time, but we've got to build up to that gradually".
