Declarations w/c 26 November 2007

We have just two horses declared so far this week and, at the moment, no other entries.

Rio Rocket a 2yo sent to us a few weeks ago is declared tomorrow at Wolverhampton in a 7f+ seller at 2.35 pm. She is drawn 9 of 12 and Hayley Turner rides.

On Wednesday What's For Tea runs in the 7.50 pm at Kempton, a 6f handicap, drawn 11 of 12, and again Hayley Turner rides.

We had a successful Open Day on 11 November and it was good to see so many people. We have done reasonably well in selling interests in the yearlings. Details of the various horses for sale are on our website. Perhaps it holds the answer to what to buy your loved one for Christmas!

I would just like to draw your attention to the opportunity to be involved with a jumper if that should interest you. I bought Hope Road, a 3yo gelding by Sakhee (USA) out of Bibliotheque (USA) at the Tatts Autumn Sale for the ONEWAY National Hunt Partnership. One of the 1/6th partners has dropped out so there is this one share available. The cost is £4,000 plus VAT and £304.17 plus VAT a month fully inclusive. Hope Road has not been with me long but I have schooled him and he jumped really well. I'm hoping to run him in December.

Entries w/c 19 November 2007

Savile's Delight is entered in a classified stakes at Wolverhampton over 7 furlongs on Thursday evening at 9.20 pm. He was entered in several races this week but was balloted out so I'm hoping we have better luck on Thursday.

Davidia is entered at Wolverhampton on Saturday in the 7.55 pm, a seller, over an extended mile and the 8.55 pm, a handicap over 12 furlongs.

Entries this week and our open day

Yesterday What's For Tea ran a little disappointingly in the claimer at Lingfield finishing third.

On Wednesday Davidia runs at Wolverhampton in a seller at 2.40 pm.

On Saturday Topiary Ted is entered at Lingfield at 12. 20 pm in a handicap over 10 furlongs.

It was great to see so many of you at our Open Day on Sunday. Thanks to those who bought tickets for the raffle we raised £340 for Lambourn Valley Housing Trust. The lucky prize winner was Caroline Sanderson who won bed & breakfast for two at The Malt Shovel in Upper Lambourn, an early morning visit to the gallops to see my horses work and four premier enclosure badges for Newbury on a date of her choice. Caroline, a member of the ONEWAY RSM Racing Club has been a huge supporter of the yard and has attended virtually all Bold Diktator's races as well as his final day with us when he was sold at Tattersalls.

Magic Glade

Magic Glade won at Wolverhampton last night making it 24 winners so far this year.

Unfortunately for me, but good for the owner, he was claimed for £18,000 by Peter Grayson.

I really love that horse. He is an absolute gem, always trying as hard as he can in every race. The old boy is 8 but he has probably never been better and has won six races for us this year. It was really sad to see him go. But it was the right thing for Alan Solomon as Magic Glade is getting on and £18,000 for an 8yo who cost £2,500 is not bad.

Let's hope some of our yearlings are half as good as him. We'll have a great time next year if they are.

Look forward to seeing many of you on Sunday.

Open Day

We are having an end of season party on Sunday for all my owners, friends & family and supporters.

It starts at 1.00pm with a champagne reception, followed by a hog roast. I will be showing all my new horses, the 16 yearlings and the two I have bought to go jumping next year. We will also be having a raffle to raise money for the Lambourn Valley Housing Trust.

Everyone is welcome, but I would appreciate a RSVP to tomdascombe@onewayracing.co.uk

Entries & declarations w/c 5 November 2007

In this the last week of the turf season for 2007 we just have two entries both on the all-weather!

Magic Glade is declared to run tomorrow at Wolverhampton in a 6f claimer at 7.20 pm. Richard Kingscote rides.

I have entered Davidia in a claimer at Kempton on Sunday at 2.00 pm

Can I please remind you all that our OPEN DAY is on Sunday 11 November at 1.00 pm.?

There will be champagne and canapés, a hog roast, wine and beer, a parade of the yearlings and the two new jumpers as well as a raffle in aid of the Lambourn Valley Housing Trust.

I would be very grateful if those of you who intend to come and have not yet told me would please drop me an email. It makes catering slightly difficult when we don't know how many are likely to turn up. Everyone is welcome and I hope we see you.

Horses in Training Sale

Last week I was in Newmarket the whole week looking for a couple of horses to buy to go jumping and to sell some of my existing horses.

Bold Diktator was sold to Richard Whitaker, who trains near Leeds, for an owner of his to go chasing. Rainbow Flame was also sold to go jumping, Ishi Adiva and Treacle Noir were both sold to become brood mares, Ishi Adiva to Spain and Treacle Noir to Ireland.

I purchased Doctor Robert, a maiden 2yo colt, formerly trained by Roger Charlton for new owners to me, Malcolm & Julie Cooper, who are putting together a syndicate to race him. The plan is to win a flat race and then to go juvenile hurdling later next year.

I also purchased Hope Road, a maiden 3yo, formerly trained by James Fanshaw for the ONEWAY NH Partnership as a successor to Master of the Race.

Both my purchases are horses by Sakhee (USA)
