At The Races

Tom was a guest of At The Races on the Forum programme at 9.00 am on Sunday, hosted by Matt Chapman.

The first half of the programme was a discussion about jump racing and in particular the seasonal reappearances of Kauto Star and Noland at Down Royal on Saturday. It was interesting that Tom, a trainer who specialises in flat racing, should be asked to give his opinion on the performances of Paul Nicholls' jumpers.

The next 15 minutes was devoted to exploring with Tom his view of his 2009 season and the ups, like the two Group 2 wins an July, and the downs, like 66 days without a winner. It was great publicity and, hopefully, viewers would have felt that Tom acquited himself well. At least he, like Matt Chapman, is always prepared to express an opinion.

The last quarter of the programme was spent reviewing the runners in the Melbourne Cup.
