Plush makes it 40

Ross Atkinson rode a fine race on Plush at Wolverhampton on Friday night to make it 40 winners for ONEWAY in 2008. I am delighted to put a winner on the board for John Reed who sent me several horses a month or so ago. It has been an amazing year for the whole team and we can't wait for 2009 which, with the ammunition at our disposal, could be even better.

From The Racing Post website

TOM DASCOMBE recorded a 47-1 treble at Lingfield on Sunday, and it was the first time the trainer had ever managed more than one winner on a card.

The Game (1.30) got things underway with an impressive four-length victory, and half an hour later the well backed Yellow Printer - part owned by Harry Findlay, got up to score.

Finally Saucy (3.30) ensured that the trainer enjoyed a trip to the all-weather to remember. All three horses were ridden to victory by stable jockey Richard Kingscote.

Dascombe said afterwards: "Three runners, three winners - you can't get better than that. Unless you win four!"

"Yellow Printer will make a nice three-year-old. We have taken our time with him as his head was a bit frazzled when we got him, but I have always liked him. He only seems to do enough and I'd say he'll have a break now.

"The handicapper is going to hammer The Game. We're going to be into the 90s now so God knows what we'll do, but he's only had four runs for us and could be improving

The other filly (Saucy) just loves it around here."

An unbelievable day

What a fantastic way to spend a Sunday!

I took three runners to Lingfield; The Game, Yellow Printer and Saucy and they all won. This is the first time I have had a treble. I knew that all three had good chances but rarely do they all perform as you would want. Once again we witnessed three fantastic rides from Richard Kingscote who each time took the lead going round the final bend and accelerated coming out of the corner at exactly the right time to put daylight between himself and his persuers.

I am delighted for my owners and staff.

Having reached my target of 36 winners for the year yesterday we are now standing at 39 winners so would it be greedy to want just one more?

Target achieved!! 36 winners for 2008

Faldal, a 2yo, won her third race, a mile maiden at Great Leighs, to make ONEWAY's target for the year of 36 winners.

Faldal, a fine looking filly by Falbrav, owned by Bernadette Quinn, won easily seeing off the even money favourite under a pillar to post ride from Richard Kingscote.

A huge thank you to the whole ONEWAY team, our owners, our staff, our jockeys, our suppliers, our vet, Caroline George, our farrier Jeremy Smith and our yearling 'breaker' Harry Whittington.

ONEWAY is flying: winner No 35

Wee Sonny ran a much better race on his second start to be a close third over 1 mile at Lingfield today. He should be in the No 1 spot before long.

John Duddy's other runner on the same card was Noverre To Go who at last showed on the racecourse what he has been showing at home and came in a convincing winner of four runners over 6 furlongs. Once again Noverre To Go looked mighty green when he was asked to quicken and take the lead and as in his three previous runs found it difficult to run in a straight line. He showed enough though to suggest he'll be a force to be reckoned with when he puts his head down and concentrates on the task in hand. He is the sort that makes you really excited about next year's turf season.

Shadow Bay is a real trier

Shadow Bay made it 34 winners for the year tonight winning the seller at Great Leighs under a great ride from Richard Kingscote who managed to overcome a terrible No 13 draw by breaking quickly and getting across to three off the rails. There was no bid for Shadow Bay at the auction.

Richard Kingscote celebrated his 50th winner of the year a tremendous achievement, but well deserved, for a young jockey just out of his claim. He and Tom have struck up a great partnership and Tom has supplied Richard with a lot of winners but Richard has also had support from a number of other trainers including Ralph Beckett, Ed Vaughan, his former governor, Roger Charlton and recently got the leg up on one of Mike De Kock's runners at Great Leighs.
